The Australian Rotary Health Australian Rotary Health - Supporting healthier minds, bodies and communities through research, awareness and education. Since 1986, Rotary Clubs and Rotarians have supported Health Research in Australia. Current support primarily goes to Mental Illness research in Australians. Applications are available for Mental Health Research Grants, Colin Dodds Post Doctoral Fellowship, and Geoffery Betts Post Doctoral Fellowship.

The Donald Simpson Centre Being part of social groups helps us cope more effectively with difficulties and life's little complexities. The Donald Simpson Centre is just such a place for the over fifties in the Redland's area. Thirty Four separate activities are undertaken each week by volunteer convenors. These are just some of the more popular activities at the Centre - Gentle Exercise, German, Leatherwork, Line Dancing, Low Vison Support Group, Music Appreciation, Painting, Seniors Musical Evenings, Solo and Table Tennis. Their mission statement is - To enhance and enrich the quality of life of the mature citizens of the Shire through activity and friendships.

Redland District Committee on the Ageing (RDCOTA) has provided over 37 years of service to the Redland community. RDCOTA is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation working towards the well being of all citizens over the age of 50 years. The organisation has evolved over the years to best serve the needs and interests of the ever-increasing ageing population of the district whether they live independently in the community, or in one of the many retirement villages or aged care facilities.

Australian Army Cadets - 136ACU (Redlands) In October 2008,136ACU celebrated 15 years of service to the Redlands district. They have a unit strength of 93 cadets, 6 staff and 3 adult volunteers. During the last 5 years 136ACU have had a very close association with the Rotary Club of Capalaba. The unit has helped provide logistical support to many activities the club has organised. Examples are the 100th anniversary of Rotary, Bookfests over the last 4 years, the Antique Fair and the Rotary Club of Capalaba ANZAC Day commemorations which have now become legendary. The unit has benefited from the donations the Capalaba Rotary Club has provided in appreciation of their support. The unit has used these funds to purchase equipment for the cadets. |
Donations in Kind (DIK) is a program supported by Rotary Clubs in Australia which grew out of the compassion and concern of returning overseas volunteers. The program involves the collection, sorting, packing, dispatch and distribution of donated items to countries in need of these goods.

Many goods and products, for which organisations in Australia have no further use, are valuable commodities in needy countries.

Shelterbox began in 2001 as a modest project by a Rotary club in England, and is registered as a UK charity. It quickly garnered support among Rotary clubs worldwide. To date Shelterbox has raised $29 million and delivered aid to 40 countries in response to more than 70 disasters. Each Shelterbox container costs $1,000 to sponsor, and Rotary clubs provide more than half of the charity’s funding. |

The Fred Hollows Foundation is carrying on Fred’s legacy, that of helping to restore the eyesight of thousands of people in developing countries. He also had a passionate plight to improve indigenous health here in Australia. The Foundation is an international development organisation, focusing on blindness prevention and Australian Indigenous health. They are independent, non-profit, politically unaligned and secular. |

The Cleveland Scout Group has been supported by the Rotary Club of Capalaba for 4-5 years and in 2005 the club built the current adjoining Bookshed. It is to store books for the frequent Bookfests which help raise some funds that go the the Scouts. Every Bookfest event the scouts, their leaders and parents work alongside Capalaba Club Rotarians to make the event successful.
